It is important to note that not every recording will be suited for use with speech recognition. Recordings in noisy environments, or that do not have a continuous speech flow (choppy speech patterns) should be skipped.

Only use an approved digital recorder and make sure you are recording in desired mode for optimal clarity.  Typically in SP or ST Mode (LP Mode will not work). Consult the literature provided with the recorder and/or your Dragon NaturallySpeaking bundle for more details.

Strategies for Accuracy:

1) Confirm the Microphone sensitivity is set to "Dictation" not "Conference" mode.

2) If using the recorders built-in microphone make sure to position the recorder at the same distance from your mouth while recording.  Remember that if you move the recorder around while dictating the volume of your recorded voice will vary and may cause poor results.

3) Consider connecting a headset microphone to the digital recorder.  This keeps the microphone positioned in one place and may help Filter out noise.

4) Speak clearly and at a continuous pace, speaking too slowly can decrease accuracy.

5) Along the same lines as #4 Relax, speaking naturally at a conversational pace is very important for good accuracy.
